Lingyun Zhong's Visionary Approach to Metropolitan Villas

Yunzhu Lake stands as a testament to the innovative spirit of design, where natural elements and modern aesthetics coalesce to form a living space that is both a home and a haven. The demonstration room, spanning 195 square meters, is a bold statement against conventional residential design, breaking traditional spatial boundaries and centering social interaction within a contemporary urban setting. The design's strength lies in its ability to create 'scenes' that not only articulate a lifestyle but also provide emotional sustenance, thus positioning emotion as the soul of the space.

The design's realization is a symphony of materials—stone, slate, rubble, wood veneer, wall cloth, and more—each chosen to enhance the immersive experience of the space. The use of mirror stainless steel and wire glass adds a modern touch, while the wood flooring grounds the design with warmth. The result is a poetic lake residence that serves as a spiritual habitat for its inhabitants, a place where every corner tells a story.

Yunzhu Lake's design process was meticulous, involving graphic scheme design, conceptual scheme design, scheme deepening design, preliminary design, and construction drawing deepening design. This rigorous approach ensured that every aspect of the villa was thoughtfully considered, from the introduction of natural lighting to the integration of the outdoor landscape with the interior's multiple interactive social spaces.

Located in North Longhu Lake, Zhengzhou, China, the project commenced in August 2022 and reached completion in January 2023. It is a physical manifestation of extensive research into the psychological needs of future human settlements. The design encapsulates a vision for an ideal life, where the growth of urban living is condensed into a new paradigm of villa life, situated at the frontier of prosperity yet intimately connected with nature.

Overcoming the challenge of limited natural light in underground spaces, Lingyun Zhong's design cleverly manipulates light and architectural volume to transform the space. The courtyard becomes the axis, threading through the dwelling, while the outdoor landscape resonates with the villa's interior, creating a seamless flow between the two. This strategic design ensures that each view remains exclusive and private, enhancing the overall quality of life.

Yunzhu Lake's remarkable design has not gone unnoticed in the design community. It proudly holds the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award for 2024, a recognition awarded to designs that demonstrate exceptional innovation and professional excellence. This accolade is a testament to the project's ability to evoke positive emotions and a sense of wonder, setting a new benchmark for urban villa living.
